Amazon is reportedly working on a miniseries about FTX and its founder Sam Bankman-Fried, who lead it to bankruptcy.
Though the real impact of the FTX collapse is yet to unravel, it has been reported that Amazon is moving forward with a miniseries about the crypto exchange and its former CEO Sam Bankman-Fried. It’s going to consist of 8 episodes produced by Joe and Anthony Russo’s production company, AGBO, known for the blockbusters “Captain America” and “Avengers”.
The Invasion co-creator David Weil is going to be executive producer for the currently unnamed miniseries that tells a story about how Bankman-Fried co-founded FTX, and how he went on to lead the company to a liquidity crisis that resulted in him being ousted. The Russo brothers definitely have experience working on crypto-related projects, like Everything, Everywhere At Once about a group of young people riding the crypto train right up to and over the edge of a cliff. But still Russo’s specialty is superhero movies, so it is unclear what they can bring to the table here.
Amazon confirmed the news. "We are excited to be able to continue our great working relationship with David, Joe, Anthony, and the AGBO team with this fascinating event series," said Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios.
According to sources, the Amazon series will be based on “insider reporting” by the journalists who have covered FTX and Bankman-Fried, but the exact source hasn’t been mentioned. There are currently no other details about the upcoming series, however, Amazon is reportedly aiming to start production in spring 2023. This could be a dramatic series to watch! We continue to observe.
