Ethereum Foundation Executive Director Aya Miyaguchi announced she will step down from her current role and transition to the role of President of the organization. In a blog post earlier this week, Miyaguchi said that the move will allow her to focus on strengthening EF’s institutional relationships and expanding its global vision.

The role of the President has been newly introduced and is believed to be more focused on high-level strategic steering and representative functions rather than management of daily operations.

Miyaguchi, who joined the EF in 2018, praised Ethereum’s decentralized culture, stating, “Ethereum belongs to everyone precisely because it belongs to no one.”

“This new opportunity will allow me to continue supporting EF’s institutional relationships, and to expand the reach of our vision and culture more broadly."

The leadership shift comes as the EF undergoes restructuring and faces community scrutiny over treasury management and Ethereum’s lagging token performance. Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin praised Miyaguchi’s contributions, calling her stewardship vital to EF’s success. The EF has yet to announce her successor as Executive Director.
