Hamster Kombat has unveiled the Hamster Network, a TON blockchain-compatible Layer 2 blockchain, to handle on-chain games being developed by the team. Hamster Network marked the first investment in TON infrastructure by a Telegram mini-game since the messaging application restricted competing blockchains.

Launched in March 2024, Hamster Kombat quickly gained traction as a Telegram-based tapper game, amassing over 300 million players at its peak. The game's success was driven by its simple mechanics and integration within Telegram's ecosystem. Its player community was driven by the intrigue of the expected conversion of the collected points to an on-chain asset.

Following the launch of its native token, HMSTR, in September 2024, the disappointing token conversion and poor market performance led to a decline in player interest. The monthly active users dropped to less than 20 million.

Since then, the team has engaged in multiple initiatives to bring back interest to the game.

On February 7, 2025, the team introduced the HamsterVerse, an interconnected platform of games utilizing the HMSTR token. The initial lineup within it included titles such as Hamster Kombat: GameDev Heroes, Hamster Fight Club, and Hamster King. Each game offers unique gameplay mechanics, ranging from managing a game development studio in GameDev Heroes to engaging in battles in Hamster Fight Club. This diversification aimed to cater to a wide audience and enhance user engagement within the ecosystem.

Now, with the introduction of the Hamster Network, the ecosystem should be complete with infrastructure to handle Web3 gaming. The integration of the Hamster Network ensures that all apps and dApps within the ecosystem operate efficiently, providing users with a seamless and cost-effective gaming experience.

Together with the Hamster Network launch, the team introduced Hamster Boost, a program designed to engage the community in stress-testing the new network. Participants were offered quests and bounties, encouraging active involvement in the network's development and ensuring robustness before broader adoption.

The choice of the TON blockchain technology aligns with Telegram's recent decision to exclusively integrate TON as the sole blockchain for its Mini App ecosystem. Telegram's strategic move aims to convert the popularity of its Mini App community to grow its presence in the digital asset markets.
