Now Dominica is one step closer to the metaverse with the digital identity token. Tron smart contract blockchain, Huobi crypto exchange and Dominica metaverse organisation DMC Labs have launched the Dominica Metaverse Bound Token (DMBT), part of the Dominica Metaverse Digital Citizen (DMDC) program, authorised by the government of the Caribbean Island nation.
DMBT serves as an on-chain identity for users who have completed their Level-3 KYC verification on Huobi. DMBTs are a unique type of soul bound token, also non-transferable and revocable. The token builds on previous work, led by TRON, to build the Dominica Digital Identity (DDID), a digital ID that gives holders “citizenship” of the Dominica Metaverse. Those who have met the requirements for DDID are also able to mint DMBT on the TRON blockchain. Minters need to connect their TRON wallet to the Huobi app. Minting a single DMBT will incur a fee of one USDT or the equivalent in Huobi Tokens (HT) or TRON (TRX).
The Dominica Metaverse works as both a space for virtual interactions and a marketing tool for the Caribbean region. The launch of DMBT is part of TRON’s effort to launch Dominica Coin, a token promoting the nation’s natural and cultural heritage.
If we look at the practical side of things, there is a lot of potential in the DMC Token. DMC holders have the opportunity to obtain passports issued by the Government of Dominica, which allows holders to enjoy visa-free access in over 130 countries and regions around the world.
